Mayfair’s famous tailoring street Savile Row will soon be the home to a new Alexander McQueen flagship store. The luxury fashion house has secured a rental deal for 9 Savile Row, for a 400 sq m two-story store.
The ground floor will be used to showcase the luxury man’s collection and a bespoke tailoring service will be offered in the basement.
The palaver over Abercrombie & Finch’s plans to move to the street is not expected to repeat with this deal. The McQueen label and Savile Row have strong ties as Alexander McQueen himself started his illustrious career as an apprentice tailor at Anderson & Sheppard before moving onto Gieves & Hawkes.
A spokesperson for Savile Row Bespoke said: ‘We are really delighted with this news. This underlines the importance of the Row as the home of the world’s finest tailoring and its continuing influence and relevance.
“It is completely complementary to our goals of retaining and building this reputation and will doubtless serve to inspire the many young tailors working here today.”
