Property tycoon Christian Candy’s firm CPC Group Ltd has won planning permission to convert an office building in Knightsbridge into a luxury home.
Westminster Council has given permission to build a basement that comes with a massage room, cinema, swimming pool and cocktail lounge. It will have 1,265 square meters (13,616 square feet) of space with the extension making it more than 16 times the size of the average UK home.
Guernsey-based CPC, best known for developing One Hyde Park, will have to shell out £70,000 to the borough’s affordable housing fund.
Candy is currently betting big on London’s luxury basement craze and is also planning to develop another luxury home in Chelsea which will be fitted with a mega basement, dance studio and bowling alley.
This month Candy bought a $35m (£22.4m) property on the Upper East Side of New York and another one for $24m (£15.4m) in LA’s Holmby Hills area.
