Property developer Christian Candy, best known for developing One Hyde Park, is planning to build a luxury complex under a Chelsea home. (Read our feature on London’s billionaire basement mania.)
The Standard reports that Candy has submitted planning permission to the local council to build a mega-basement under the 204-year-old Gordon House. The basement plans feature an 18-metre two-lane bowling alley, a 20-metre swimming pool, a cold plunge pool and Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, a dance studio, three treatment rooms and a cinema room.
Back in May, it emerged that Candy paid £75m for the Grade II listed property. Once finished, the property could fetch over £200m, it was reported at the time.
The news comes after it emerged that property tycoon Mike Spink is planning to buy 3 Carlton Terrace from The Crown Estate to build a luxury home worth £140m. It will be the closest privately-owned residence to Buckingham Palace.
