Kate Beckinsale’s former school turned into luxury cottages

Flexlands Place, a collection of 14 two- and three-bedroom cottage-style houses, has been launched to the market by Blenheim Living part of developer Aitch Group. Located on Sandpit Hall Road in the affluent Surrey Village of Chobham, the gated development sits on the three-acre site of the former Flexlands School. The homes are available to purchase or rent via sales agents Savills and Seymours.  Due to the desirability of the homes on offer, only five of the 14 cottages are now available.

Flexlands School, founded in 1935 by Ann and Katherine Mais was an independent preparatory school which catered to hundreds of students within the local community, including former alumni Kate Beckinsale.  The site was purchased by Aitch Group after the school’s closure in 2017 and has now been tastefully transformed into 14 new-build homes. The homes are positioned around a central landscaped courtyard providing a resident’s lounge, where events can be held, as well as an on-site concierge. Tributes to Flexlands School can be found throughout the development’s shared resident amenities including the tennis court, pond, pavilion with bench seating and open green spaces.

Aitch Group and sales agents Savills and Seymours reveal that the majority of sales and rental interest to date has come from the local Chobham and wider Surrey community. The gated-development and cottage-style houses appeal to downsizers and professionals commuting to London, most of whom either went to or remember Flexlands School.  Flexlands Place is offering a sales opportunity unlike anything else in the area. The three-bedroom show home named Hazelwood provides 1,625 sq. ft. of space and is on sale for £995,000. The show home was designed by renowned interior design firm Alexander James who drew inspiration from the gated development’s leafy surroundings. The house has been designed with a pallet consisting of muted tones and highlights of deep greens and burnt oranges, creating a warm and cosy vibe. The show home enables perspective customers to envision how their homes could look.

The two-bedroom show home named Hollywood provides 1,625 sq. ft. is on sale for £925,000 and was designed by EMR Architecture also provides a cottage style feel with a warm interior design.

Both the homes are split over two floors. Upon entering, residents benefit from an open plan living room and kitchen with floor to ceiling bi-folding glass doors offering access onto a private garden.
