West End’s “lost quarter” between Lower Regent Street and Haymarket is set to get a £320m makeover.
Landlords Crown Estate want the area, set slap bang in the middle of St James’s district, to be refurbished to give way to a new shopping and office complex.
Balfour Beatty has won an £87m contract to build a 260,000 sq ft of new commercial and retail space across two eight-storey blocks.
The project will be completed by 2015.
