When looking to sell property, estate agent selling costs are a major expense that you have to consider.

Interestingly, the average estate agent fee for selling a London home now stands at almost ยฃ7,039, according to Porticoย London Estate Agents, as it launches a contest to give Londoners the chance to sell their property for free. This figure is nearly 44 times* more than it was in the mid-Seventies when the average estate agent fee was around ยฃ161.

From now until August 31st 2019, every Londoner who completes an instant property valuation via this linkย  will be entered into a prize-draw, giving them a chance to save thousands of pounds, with the Portico fee being completely wiped.

Property sellers have the chance to save a latte-money

Portico are promoting this prize-draw in association with Perky Blenders, the east-London-based coffee chain who are one of the estate agentโ€™s โ€œPortico Placesโ€, (a place the agents recommend to their customers who have just moved into the local area).

Every coffee cup Perky Blenders give out will have details of Porticoโ€™s summer prize-draw. You can find Perky Blenders kiosks at the following locations: Leytonstone Kiosk; Leyton – Project 660; Walthamstow – The Magistrates; Walthamstow Kiosk (near the bus stop).

Portico will also be donating 5 pence from every cup of coffee to charity

In addition to this, Portico and Perky Blenders will be donating 5 pence from every cup of coffee** toย Papyrus, a charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.

Papyrus aim to shatter the stigma around suicide through opening channels of communication and encouraging young people to open up about their feelings.

Robert Nichols, CEO of Portico Estate Agents, said:

โ€œThe London property market remains a buyersโ€™ market. According to the latest Zoopla figures, London buyers negotiated an average asking price discount of 5.7 per cent in April – which has increased from 4.8 per cent the year before.

For this reason, itโ€™s more important than ever to find a proactive agent who will work hard to sell your property, for the best price (or for free)! We hope that wiping our fees will come as welcome news to some lucky sellers.

We are also very proud to be promoting this prize-draw in association with one of our local coffee shops, Perky Blenders. Each coffee cup they give out will provide details on the prize-draw and how to enter, and better still, weโ€™ll be donating 5 pence from each cup of coffee sold to Papyrus, a charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.โ€
