1.     Kensington W8

Average property price: £1.7m

Highest house price currently on the market: £30m

The only time most of us could imagine owning a property in the affluent Kensington is while rolling to dice on the Monopoly board. Why?  Because you pay £1,193 for just a single square foot of land here!

From a private motor museum for vintage Ferraris to an underground extension for a swimming pool, gym and private cinema, this is where you would find the most jaw-dropping extravagances.

After all, this gilded postcode is home to the richest of the rich- steel mogul Laxmi Mittal, Russian Oligarch Leonard Blavatnik and Madonna  to name a few. What adds to the grandeur of this street is the Kensington Palace, former home to Princess Diana.

2.     Chelsea SW3

Average property price: £1.3m

Highest house price currently on the market: £25m

With front doors of Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and Norway’s richest man John Fredriksen gated here, Chelsea is where you would love to stroll about with your friends discussing what you would do if you were a millionaire.

This neighbourhood of artists is worth a million bucks for its sheer history of being home to the Beatles, Rolling Stones members Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards and more recently Kylie Minogue.

From a rose named after Will & Kate to many-a visit by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Piers Morgan and Vivienne Westwood, this star-struck neighbourhood plays perfect host to the Chelsea Flower Show each year.

3.     Knightsbridge SW7

Average property price: £1.3m

Highest house price currently on the market: £35m

When you emerge from the Knightsbridge Underground station, you’ve got Harrods on one side and one of Britain’s most expensive piece of real estate- 1 Hyde Park on the other hand. Need we say more?

If you try pressing your nose against 1 Hyde Park- you’d find posh features like a 21m swimming pool, a cinema, a wine cellar, saunas, a golf simulator, and a valet service.

If that’s not enough to describe the opulence of this neighbourhood, Knightsbridge is home to Heineken heiress Chalene De Carvalho and Property mogul Simon Reuben- two of the richest Londoners- who you might find taking a walk in Hyde Park which is round the corner.

4.     Notting Hill W1

Average property price: £1.1m

Highest house price currently on the market: £13.5m

David Cameron is often referred to as a part of the ‘Notting Hill set’.. more than a million people flock to celebrate the Notting Hill carnival every year  and of course Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts celebrated the neighbourhood on screen, it comes as no surprise that Notting Hill is a property hotspot.

Known to be the playground of the rich and famous, the residents include singer Robbie Williams, model Claudia Schiffer, Designer and daughter of Sir Paul McCartney- Stella McCartney, and media baron Rupert Murdoch’s daughter Elisabeth Murdoch.

5.     West Brompton SW10

Average property price: £1m

Highest house price currently on the market: £6m

What gives West Brompton’s properties staggering price tags is its location. Based in the borough of the rich- borough of Kensington and Chelsea, this is where you’d find the Troubadar Cafe where Bob Dylan performed his first ever gig.

What’s more? The Chelsea football club is a stone’s throw away and this pricey neighbourhood has been earmarked as one of the villages to replace the Earls Court Exhibition Centre.
