Ex-Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has a Batcave-style car tunnel under his £9m Mayfair home.

According to the London Evening Standard, the car tunnel existed when Dein bought the property in February.

The two-metre-high car tunnel would reportedly give neighbours access to a parking area that can accommodate seven vehicles.

Last week, Dein got planning permission to demolish his five-bedroom home for adding a two-storey basement complete with pool, gym and staff quarters.

Ed Mead, director of estate agents Douglas & Gordon, told the paper: “What is of course at issue here is whether anyone would want to spend a fortune on a house knowing people are regularly driving underneath.

“I would say this is a significant detraction for most people.”
