A new neighbourhood in Bedfordshire is becoming a hotspot for city dwellers looking to move away from London. With a quieter and more affordable lifestyle on offer, yet good transport links back into the capital, Ashberry Homesโ€™ Sycamore Avenue development in New Cardington has seen a growing number of customers who are moving out of the city post-lockdown in search of more space.

This reflects a trend identified by property website Rightmove, which found that in April this year 51% of London house-hunters who enquired about a property were looking to move out of the city, compared with just 42% at the same point last year.

Ashberry Homes is building a range of two, three, four-bedroom homes at Sycamore Avenue, off Conder Boulevard, with prices starting from ยฃ250,000.

Residents at Sycamore Avenue are able to benefit from the villageโ€™s idyllic surroundings bordering picturesque open space โ€“ yet itโ€™s less than four miles from Bedford town centre, while Bedford railway station has trains into London St Pancras International in as little as 38 minutes.

Sales Manager for Ashberry Homes Eastern Counties, Rachael Gatehouse said, โ€œThe demand for homes at our Sycamore Avenue development has been extremely high โ€“ especially since the lockdown has lifted โ€“ with many of our buyers moving here from London to escape the hustle and bustle of capital life.

โ€œWeโ€™re seeing customers prioritising both space within their home and access to the outdoors โ€“ and our homes in New Cardington tick both boxes.

โ€œThe development is appealing to those looking to live in a peaceful new village, which benefits from great local facilities and good road links, with the A421 right on the doorstep, as well as direct trains into London from nearby Bedford.

โ€œOf course, property here is also far more affordable compared with the capital, and with our reputation as a five-star builder with the Home Builders Federation (HBF) โ€“ meaning that nine out of ten buyers would recommend us to a friend โ€“ our customers can be reassured they are investing in a high-quality home.โ€
