2019 is set to be another record year for aspirational homebuyers as first-time buyers with mortgages now account for 50% of house purchases, the highest level since 2006.

With house prices in London set to remain steady for the next few years, struggling first-time buyers and second steppers in the Capital may wish to take the opportunity to get a foot on or up the housing ladder. On Thursday 24 January, leading housebuilder Barratt London will host a special ‘Help for Homebuyers’ event at the Hilton London Metropole in Paddington, to help Londoners find their own way to homeownership.

Free to attend, the Help for Homebuyers event is being held from 4pm to 8pm and will demonstrate ways in which buyers can beat the market and buy at one of six of its developments across the Capital.  Potential buyers will be able to receive impartial mortgage and financial advice from independent financial advisors, including information on purchasing schemes such as the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme.

Leading industry experts including Kate Faulkner, mortgage specialists from Torc24, and London Help to Buy will be leading talks to inform and educate buyers. The speakers will be joined by advisers from L&C and Taylors Legal, who will be available to answer questions on all topics.

Karly Williams, Regional Sales Director at Barratt London said, “Getting on the property ladder is without doubt one of the biggest milestones most people face. For those living in London this milestone can be harder to achieve than it might be in other parts of the UK. With this in mind, our Help for Homebuyers event is designed to break down perceived barriers to homeownership in the Capital and provide buyers with the knowledge and confidence to be able to buy their own home.”

Representatives from Barratt London will be present to discuss the range of properties it has available to buy across its developments, including Cane Hill Park in Croydon, Harrow Square in Harrow, Hendon Waterside in Hendon, New Mill Quarter in Hackbridge, Ridgeway Views in Mill Hill, Trinity Square in Colindale and Upton Gardens in Upton Park. In addition, Barratt London is also offering a January incentive to coincide with the event, which will help to make buying your new home even more affordable, as buyers could potentially save up to £6,000 in stamp duty costs.

Williams continued, “Our Help for Homebuyers event is completely free to attend, with experts in the industry on hand to advise buyers on all areas, from raising a deposit to securing a mortgage.  For anyone thinking about buying a brand new home in London, this really is a great opportunity to find out more. You may even make thousands of pounds in savings.”
