A 38-storey tower has been approved for construction in London’s insurance district.
The tower, dubbed “The Scalpel”, is designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox architects and will be built in Lime Street, moments from Monument Station.
Looming at 190m (620ft) in height, The Scalpel is taller than the Gherkin, and will be the European HQ for the US insurers WR Berkley.
The City of London Corporation said the building represented a “major vote of confidence in the City’s status as Europe’s financial capital”.
