To fathom just how hot London homes are, read this news story..

Maine Tower in Canary Wharf hasn’t been built yet. But that didn’t stop people queuing for 36 hours to snap up homes in the residential skyscraper.

Homes worth over £140m in total have been sold in the tower block that will be completed only in 2019.

Maine Tower has 230 apartments and prices range from £350,000 to £1.25m.

According to developers Galliard Homes, properties in the tower were sold out in one morning. While 50% of the flats were purchased by domestic buyers, the other half were snapped up by overseas buyers from Greece, Italy, France and China.

Galliard Homes CEO Stephen Conway told the Daily Telegraph: “The regeneration of this industrial site adjoining Millharbour Dock and the forthcoming Crossrail link is a game changer in connecting Docklands with west London.

“Homes in the locality will benefit from capital value uplift and sustained sales demand from rental investors and owner occupiers [homeowners who buy the property to live in].”
