The price of holiday lets in South West London this July have skyrocketed by an average of 30% due to surging demand from tourists for accommodation during the Wimbledon Championships, according to the latest analysis from rental management platform GuestReady.

The iconic tournament kicks off on 3 July, with over half a million expected to attend the matches in person and many thousands more adding to Wimbledon Fever in the city.

GuestReady finds the average cost of renting a South West London holiday let during the Wimbledon Championships (July 3-16) is up from £301 in 2022 to £390 in 2023 – a 30% increase even on last year’s memorable tournament that marked the centenary of the opening of Centre Court in 1922.

With tennis fans from across the world expected to flock to SW19, providing a welcome bump in tourist numbers, GuestReady’s analysis shows American visitors taking the international top spot making up 39% of holiday let bookings.

Visitors from Rafael Nadal’s home country of Spain take second place making up 9% of bookings in July.

GuestReady helps property owners to market and manage 4,500 holiday rental properties and has helped to welcome over 600,000 guests worldwide since 2016, and is preparing for perhaps the busiest time of year for South West London.

John Severino, UK Country Manager at GuestReady said, “146 years after it began, there is no doubt that Wimbledon is as iconic as it has always been, bringing in visitors to London year after year both from across the UK and internationally.

“Tourists from the US are particularly keen to see the action up close, looking to stay somewhere they can feel at home and driving demand for short-term stays in SW19.”
