Unhappy hour: These are the UK’s most miserable places to live in

The not-so-coveted top spot on the list of the UK’s most miserable place goes to Barking and Dagenham.

In fact, London is home to nine out of 10 unhappiest places to live in the UK.

Based on a poll of residents’ satisfaction by Rightmove, the “happiness” survery takes into account safety, neighbourliness and amenities to rank communities.

Rightmove’s housing expert Miles Shipside said: “To come top of our Happy at Home Index three years in a row is no mean feat, and we’ll be expecting a spike in people having a look on Rightmove to see what they might be able to afford to buy or rent in the Harrogate area.”
