On Thursday saw Strawberry Star Group marked a significant milestone in the construction of its iconic Bronze development in Wandsworth, SW18, with a traditional topping out ceremony. The Bronze-clad landmark, which forms a major part of Wandsworth’s regeneration scheme, was ‘crowned’ by the Cllr Ravi Govindia CBE, Leader of Wandsworth Council along with Santhosh Gowda, Chairman, Strawberry Star Group. The development takes its name from the burnished bronze metal panels on its exterior, which has been designed to reflect the warmth and spirit of the borough.

Located in the heart of Wandsworth on Buckhold Road and adjacent to the 55-acre King George’s Park, Bronze offers 77 luxury new homes, including one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, and three-bedroom duplexes, arranged across three distinctive bronze towers of 11, 18, and 20 storeys. The area around Bronze is being transformed with new public squares, shopping parades and pedestrian links.

The topping-out ceremony was also attended by Mark Henry, MD, Henry Constructions; Jim Hendley, MD, Henry Riley; Matt Chamberlain, Partner, ACG; Damien Hughes, Senior Director, Oaknorth and senior management of Strawberry Star Group.

Cllr Ravi Govindia, said, “Bronze is an important addition to the Wandsworth Town regeneration plan and local housing delivery. It is encouraging to note that they have a strong development pipeline in the UK and are investing in communities. This is a great example of further regeneration and investment in the borough through this new residential space. Wandsworth Council is working with a number of partners to deliver huge improvements to our town centres, and this impressive development meets our ambition for the regeneration of this area.”

Santhosh Gowda, Chairman, Strawberry Star Group, said: “Today’s topping out ceremony is a landmark for us considering that Bronze is our foray into development, which further led to our volume housing vision and mixed-use developments. Wandsworth’s transformation means that residents of Bronze can benefit from great facilities and amenities all whilst living in a well-connected part of the city. I’d like to thank Wandsworth Council, our vendors, consultants and stakeholders for their support and cooperation in helping us reach this stage, and welcome in advance the new residents at Bronze ahead of their arrival in their new homes early next year.”

With the first phase of residents due to move into their new homes in April 2020, Strawberry Star has already seen reservations for 40% of the apartments at Bronze. The development has proven particularly popular with first time buyers, families and working professionals, thanks to the building’s planned 24-hour security and a convenient 12-hour daytime concierge service. Bronze will also feature a residents-only roof terrace, fitted with a children’s play area.

Bronze is another addition to Strawberry Star’s planned housing initiative, which will see the development of several housing schemes planned by the Group in London and the commuter belt towns. As part of its volume housing vision, the company plans to deliver 4,000 new build homes by 2025 in and around London.
