The last roar: 300-year-old London pub The Black Lion sold for £27m

A 300-year-old pub in Bayswater has been sold for £27m with plans afoot for turning the site into luxury flats.

According the Standard, The Black Lion has been snapped up by Jersey-registered developer 123 Bayswater Road Ltd. The identity of the buyer is unknown.

The pub, owned by hospitality company Spirit, made a £700,000 profit last year.

According to website closedpubs.co.uk, 3,185 London pubs have shut down in the recent years.
