Soho House, the members’ club founded by entrepreneur Nick Jones, is eyeing the site of the old BBC Television Centre in White City to open a new club.
Jones is known to be in talks with property developers Stanhope to open a 50-room boutique hotel and a club that comes with a rooftop swimming pool on the site. Plans for converting the outer ring of the television centre into an apartment block are also on the cards.
Launched in Greek Street in 1995, Soho House has 11 clubs including sites in West Hollywood, Berlin and the 18-acre Babington House in Somerset. Annual membership in London costs £600.
In July 2012, BBC sold its White City TV centre to Stanhope for £200m. Following the sale, Stanhope applied for planning permission to Hammersmith & Fulham council for redeveloping the site and is yet to receive a go-ahead.
The property developers are known to have pitched the idea for opening a new club to Soho House. However, Soho House told the London Evening Standard that it is yet to make a decision.
