Long-anticipated work on the Chelsea Barracks could now start as early as November, it has emerged.
The iconic project to develop the Victoria site has been in the pipeline since 2008 but stalled in the wake of the recession. The project was reportedly revived in 2011 when initial permission to construct 450 luxury homes was granted although no construction work has as yet commenced.
Bloomberg news, however, has now obtained a letter issued to residents earlier this month which warns them to anticipate building works starting by early November. Â
The project is run by Qatari Diar construction firm which has as yet to gain the final planning permits from Westminster Council and has pledged to carry out resident consultations in the near future.
Chelsea Barracks is considered one of Central London’s biggest brownfield sites.
