Bellway Homes continues to challenge the perceptions of home ownership; their recent survey revealed that 94% of Brits are unaware that the Government can help aspiring homeowners get on the property ladder.   Bellway has already delivered 10,000 homes in the past 12 months with many hundreds using  the Government scheme.

The Bellway survey included one thousand consumers who were asked about their property perceptions, answering questions on whether or not the Government could do more to get first-time buyers onto the property ladder. 53% of respondents agreed more action should be taken to help these people into homes.

Other figures revealed that 27 million Brits (52%) felt they had no one they could ask to help them raise a deposit for their first home. The research follows on from Bellway’s first Property Perceptions Survey completed six months ago.

Ian Gorst, London and South East Regional Chairman of Bellway Homes, comments: “Many of us know how difficult it is getting on the property ladder, particularly in London and the South East, where the prices are more challenging.

“The Help to Buy scheme, now five years old, has made a huge difference so far in helping many first-time buyers getting on the ladder and we have seen this time and time again. We are proud to have helped hundreds of house buyers get on the ladder in the last five years, more than 300 of those with our annual Help to Buy Events which we have been running over the past last two years. We will continue to raise awareness of this scheme, and our other incentives and offers for prospective buyers, to ensure people can realise their property dreams.”
