How to hit your target to move by Christmas

The latest analysis by Quickmove Properties has shown that new home buyers with a property to sell can only realistically move using property part exchange if they wish to be in their new home by the end of the year.

The countdown to Christmas is almost on but for those looking to move house by then, the hopes of completing before the big day arrives would require a Christmas miracle.

In fact, latest figures from GetAgent.co.uk show that on average across England and Wales, it takes 219 days between the point a property is first listed for sale and when the sale completes.

That’s just over seven months, meaning that those listing their home for sale today won’t be completing before Spring 2024, let alone Christmas 2023.

However, there is one way to beat the Christmas deadline and that’s with property part exchange, a service offered by park home specialists Quickmove Properties. Those over 50 looking to downsize to a park home are able to part exchange their bricks and mortar and move within a matter of weeks.

Doing so not only releases equity, the process also provides a high level of certainty and security, with released funds available for a quick, hassle-free move.

But the biggest benefit? It takes just 14 to 28 days to complete the process from start to finish, subject to clear legal title and survey. This means moving before Christmas is a very real possibility for those downsizing to a park home with a bricks and mortar house still to sell.

Another little-known benefit that provides a great deal of appeal to movers using Quickmove’s part exchange is that you can remain in your existing home for as long as two weeks after your completion date.

This means that if you time it right, you could complete on your park home purchase, remain in your existing home to celebrate one last Christmas in the family home and make your move before the New Year is rung in.

Sales Director at Quickmove Properties, Mark O’Dwyer, said, “Christmas is a popular target for homebuyers and sellers to complete their transactions before we all take a well earned break with loved ones over the festive period.

However, for those who aren’t approaching completion already, the chances of moving before Christmas are slim and those who are only just listing their home today have no hope as the average time to sell currently sits at over seven months.

That said, a park home part exchange could make the perfect Christmas gift for those looking to downsize from their bricks and mortar property in later life. There are a whole host of benefits to part exchange, from the security and certainty of the sale, not to mention the equity released to help with the cost of Christmas.

But the biggest advantage is the speed and not only can the process be completed in as little as two weeks subject to clear legal title and survey, but you also have the option to remain in your existing home for a further two weeks after completion.

This means if you time it right, you could have one last turkey dinner to celebrate the end of an era in your existing home and be popping bottles to ring in the New Year in your new park home.”
