Independent design experts have recognised Barratt London’s development, Hendon Waterside, NW9, with an “Outstanding” Built for Life accreditation. The scheme recognises developments that are designed with community and longevity in mind, with Hendon Waterside rated highly by the judges’ criteria.

Built for Life is an independent design accreditation scheme developed by the Design Council/Chartered Association of Building Engineers, the Home Builders Federation, the Civic Trust and Design for Homes, to measure what really makes a new development a good place to live. Each submitted development is measured against 12 categories of design, ranging from public transport connections to integration with the surrounding architecture.

Hendon Waterside is located on the banks of the Welsh Harp reservoir, with plenty of open spaces for play, leisure and exercise. A brand-new piazza and Cooperative supermarket have recently opened on site, and the development will eventually be linked with the nearby playing fields and bowling club by a pedestrian bridge across the Welsh Harp.

Additionally, Barratt London has increased the development’s play space beyond the initial requirements, not only creating a convenient “doorstep” play area for the under-fives, but including another, separate main play area to serve the whole community, providing equipment for older children up to the age of eleven.

Ed McCoy, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt West London said, “We are delighted that Hendon Waterside has been awarded a prestigious Built for Life award. We are very proud of the work being done here, and truly believe that Hendon Waterside will contribute vital new homes and open spaces to the local Hendon community. Barratt London stands for superior design and commitment to quality, and so to see this reflected in our score is very rewarding, and an indicator of our commitment to providing outstanding homes.”

Hendon Waterside is not the first Barratt London development to have been recognised by the organisation. Landmark Place, in the City of London, earned an Outstanding accreditation, and in Wandsworth, the company’s Nine Elms development has also received the accolade, as well as Blackfriars Circus in Southwark, Upton Gardens in Newham and Ridgeway Views in Mill Hill.

Hendon Waterside currently offers one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with prices starting from £387,000 and Help to Buy also available.
