Now we’re not sure if Tower Bridge’s £1m new glassway will be as popular as the poppy exhibition but the views from the top are pretty amazing.
Tower Bridge’s West Walkway opened yesterday and wowed a lot of Londoners. The second Walkway is set to open on 1 December.
The £1m glass platform offers views of the Tower Bridge from 42m (138ft up).
The glass floor is made of six panels, each weighing a whopping 500kg each. It is supported by a carbon steel framework weighing about 1,000kg.
Questions have already risen over whether pedestrians below would be able to see up the skirts of women.
A spokesman said: “This question was discussed, and no it won’t be possible [to see up women’s skirts].
“Pedestrians can look up but the walkway is not directly above them, it’s a little bit off-centre.”
