Orchard Wharf, a fantastic residential development in London’s Canning Town by developer Galliard Homes provides an assortment of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses, located in the heart of London’s Docklands with prices starting from £475,000 making it the ideal place to live for young people who are looking to get onto the property ladder, like Aquib Maniyar, his wife Falak and their two children who recently moved into a three-bedroom apartment at the development.

Originally from India, the couple relocated to the UK in 2018 where they both found work as IT consultants for London based companies.  The couple originally moved into a rental apartment in Wimbledon, however, the apartment was older and needed some renovation. After a few years, they felt that it was time to get onto the property ladder and settle into their own permanent home.

Aquib and Falak began their search and found Galliard’s development Orchard Wharf. “The sales team originally showed us a two-bedroom apartment which we liked the look of, however, we felt as if we needed more room. Eager to help, they offered us a three-bedroom apartment which we fell in love with. We decided to take it and moved in at the beginning of August 2022. The Galliard sales team were excellent, they were patient and extremely helpful throughout the process and thanks to them we have found our dream home that suited all our needs!” Says Aquib.

One thing that was important for the couple when searching for a home was space, Aquib says: “Whilst my wife works in the office, I am currently working from home, so I wanted somewhere that allowed me to do so. We have two young children who require plenty of room to play, so finding a home which was flexible and suitable for family life was vital for us”.

The family currently use the principal bedroom as the couple’s bedroom, the second bedroom as a guest bedroom and the third as the children’s bedroom. “One thing that our children really wanted were customised bunk beds in their new room, which the space allowed us to do. The children are delighted with their bedroom, and we love that there is enough space to store their abundance of toys!”.

Aquib, like many workers post-pandemic, has the flexibility to work from home in the apartment: “I usually work in the living room, however, there is enough for me to work anywhere. The living room is our favourite room in the apartment and is where I spend most of my time- the large floor-to-ceiling windows mean the room is always bright and has a great energy. The views across the water from the balcony are incredible and were a huge selling point for us.”

The couple loved that the apartment was unfurnished as it gave them a blank canvas to create their ideal home: “We spent a great deal of time picking out all of the furniture ourselves as we wanted to create a unique home that really felt like our own we didn’t want to settle when it came to quality and were so grateful to Galliard for providing the perfect building blocks within this apartment for us”.

The location was ideal for Aquib and Falak, as it is in close proximity to Canary Wharf with excellent transport facilities for Falak to commute to her office. Aquib mentions that: “The development is perfectly located for everything that we need- I can walk to the shops to grab a pint of milk in minutes and there’s even an IKEA not too far away if we need anything for the home”.

Finding an area that was good enough to raise their children was really important for the family. “The kids love it here- there is a park nearby where they can play, and they have already made friends there which is great for us to see”.

The couple are relieved that they have found the perfect home in which to raise their children and suit both family and working life.

Fronting onto the River Lea, Orchard Wharf provides 338 apartments, with the majority enjoying dual-aspect views and access to a private balcony, terrace or ground-level garden. Residents will not be short of options for areas to relax and socialise with access to a café and retail facility, an outdoor pavilion, courtyard gardens and two recreational areas, as well as landscaped rooftop terraces. A daytime concierge is also available.

Each apartment features a spacious living area with an open plan designer fitted kitchen with Smeg stainless steel fully integrated appliances, walk-out balconies and principal bedrooms with bespoke fitted wardrobes. Larger apartments like the three bedroom one, will boast designer fitted en-suites to their principal bedrooms and walk-out timber deck terraces.

With the DLR East India Station in walking distance from the development, residents are just one stop away from Canning Town and the Jubilee line, which is just two stops away from Canary Wharf, ideal for commuting.

Orchard Wharf is also just seven minutes away from five large shopping malls, which hold over 300 stores, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Additionally, Canary Wharf is now home to the largest collections of public art in the United Kingdom as well as the largest health club in Europe.
