This news story is not so garden-variety

A London garden has been sold for £1.25m – that’s five times the average value of a London home.

The garden, just 45ft long and with no planning permission, was snapped up in an auction by Allsop auctioneers.

The buyer will have to stump up another £68,750 towards stamp duty.

Auctioneer Gary Murphy said: “This was an epic battle between more than 30 potential buyers. I could barely keep up with the pace of the bidding. Primrose Hill is prime residential London and the price probably reflects some “hope value” for future development”.

No details of the owner have been divulged.
