Here’s why its asking price is astronomical – Clarke and Lloyd property consultants converted the underground convenience into a nightclub with room for 60 customers.
The property is located in front of Hawksmoor Church, directly opposite the Spitalfields market.
In an advert on the website, the consultants described the 600 sq ft property as a “charming and quirky premises” and a “unique restaurant/bar in the heart of Commercial Street”.
The premises were converted into a nightclub called “Public Life” in the early 2000s. However, in 2012, Tower Hamlets closed down the building after 13 people were arrested for suspected drugs offences.
