Bellway has reported rising demand for homes in Essex as the region was named as one of the company’s key growth areas.
Announcing its half-year results last week, Bellway revealed its Essex division sold more than 350 homes between August 2018 and the end of January.
Bellway Essex, which is based in Chelmsford, is currently selling homes across Essex and Suffolk.
Head of Sales, Jenny Walker, said: “The housing market remains strong and this has been reflected in our growth to date.
“House prices remain at affordable levels and the region benefits from excellent transport links to nearby London, good schools and an increasing range of job opportunities fuelled by increased investment in the region.
“Low mortgage rates, high employment and the availability of the government’s Help to Buy equity loan have helped to create a housing market which is poised for further growth.”
She added: “We choose our locations carefully and design developments which closely match the demands of the local market.
“We are increasingly finding that house-hunters – especially professionals working in London – are actively seeking out these new homes as a low-maintenance and affordable option thanks to Help to Buy.
“Bellway is proud to be a HBF Five Star Builder, which demonstrates that more than 90 per cent of our customers would recommend us.”
With Help to Buy you can purchase a new home with a five per cent deposit and a 75 per cent mortgage.
The remaining 20 per cent is provided as a government-backed equity loan which is interest-free for five years.
Bellway sold more than 10,000 homes in 2017/18 and the figure is set to rise this year.
