For £450 a night, guests at the new Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard can enjoy stunning city views, Acqua Di Parma bathroom amenities, artisan delicacies at the restaurant LÁNG and a sneak peek into their neighbour’s room.

Yes, you read that right.

A design fault in the Shard makes some glass panels act as mirrors once lights are on, making it easy to peep into nearby rooms.

What’s even more obscure is that the each of the hotel’s rooms comes with a pair of binoculars.

To avoid peeping Toms, guests are being advised to close the blinds. But why pay over £450 a night if you can’t enjoy the view?

Darren Gearing, the executive vice president and hotel general manager, said: “As a building created largely from glass, all guests can enjoy spectacular views of London from floor-to-ceiling windows.

“In some rooms, due to the unique shape of The Shard, guests may be able to glimpse into a neighbour’s room. For this, blinds are available for guest privacy.”
