Indian billionaire Yusuffali Kader snaps up Great Scotland Yard for £110m

The building is to become a £10,000-a-night luxury hotel

Indian billionaire Yusuffali Kader has snapped up Great Scotland Yard for a whopping £110m.

Property giant Galliard Homes is turning the grade II building into a £10,000-a-night luxury hotel. Once complete in 2017, Kader’s Abu-Dhabi-based conglomerate Lulu Group will take over the building.

Galliard, which has a 125-year lease for the building, started construction of the building in 2013.

The building served as the Metropolitan Police HQ for 61 years. It’s also been used as headquarters for the British Army, Recruitment Office and Royal Military Police, and the Ministry of Defence Library.

Don O’Sullivan, managing director of Galliard, said: “The Great Scotland Yard Hotel will be a brand synonymous with exceptional service and refined luxury and quality.”
