Surveyors suggest the Queen and her 426 staff move to Windsor Castle

The Queen might have to go looking for another palace as she may have to give way for a £150m renovation.

According to surveyors for Sir Robert McAlpine, the palace is plagued with plumbing, electrics and asbestos problems.

Reports suggest that palace’s leaky roofs have made Buckingham Palace staff use buckets to catch rain.

Over £13.3m was spent last year on property maintenance inside Buckingham Palace. This included a £300,000 refurbishment bill for the state glass pantry and a £700,000 improvement project to imprve outdoor roadways and paths.

If the royals move out, this will be the first time a monarch has moved out since Queen Victoria designated Buckingham Palace an official residence in 1837.
